Lethabo Power Station: Turbine Safety Valve Refurbishment
Location: Lethabo Power Station, Eskom
Date: May/June 2026
Team: JAG Site Support
The Challenge:
During a planned shutdown at Lethabo Power Station, the turbine safety valves required full refurbishment and pressure testing within a tight outage window. These valves protect critical turbine equipment from sudden overpressure events, so precision and timing were equally non-negotiable.
What JAG Delivered:
The team stripped down, refurbished, and pressure tested the turbine safety valves to exacting standards, working in lockstep with Eskom’s shutdown coordination teams and adapting quickly as schedules shifted.
Results:
- On-time completion within the shutdown window, with no delays to the wider programme
- Zero quality issues: every valve met technical and performance standards for safe return to service
- Zero safety incidents throughout the project
